Ganesha

| The crow transforms into Lord Ganesha |
The demon attacked all Gods and imprisoned them. Lord Indra took to woods in fear of his life. He hid himself in South India. The demon created mayhem in Hell, Heaven and Earth. While the demon was on his way to Kailash mountains to meet his dear lord Shiva, he encountered Lord Varun, God of rains. The demon threatened him that he would not imprison provided he would stop the clouds from reaching Southern part of India. The people of South India have allowed Lord Indra to hide from me. There should not be a drop of water in that region. The lord of rains was helpless and was forced to do so.The Southern Part of India accordingly experienced drought. All forms of lives were suffering.
Sage Agastya started praying Lord Brahma to relieve his region from drought conditions. Pleased Brahma recounted the sage to go Kailash Mountains and seek Lord Shiva who has Godess Ganges flowing out ot his hair and that Lord Shiva would be able to help the sage. The sage approached Lord Shiva and the God gave some of the holy water to the sage. The sage leaves with the holy water in his pot.
Lord Ganesh curious to see the Southern part of the country follows the sage without his knowledge. Reaching the drought region, the sage rests leaving his pot on a rock. Lord Ganesh, wonders why was the sage wasting time, when mankind was suffereing without water. Lord Ganesh disguises himself into a crow and spills the pot of water. Sage Agasthya gets furious at the crow and tries to shoo the crow away. The crow transforms into Lord Ganesh, the sage is astounded to see lord Ganesh and asks him he should not have wasted that pot of water. Lord Ganesh asks the sage to turn over and to the sages surprise, the pot of water touches the ground and gives rise to a huge river called KAVERI. Lord Ganesh blesses that this river would never dry and dissapears.
Another
King kavera performed tapasya because he wished to help people. Pleased with him, Shiva appeared and blessed him with a daughter who would fulfil his wish. He named her Kaveri and married her to Sage Agastya. A demon, named Shoorapadma, wanted to trouble people so he prevented rain from reaching the earth. Kaveri prayed to the gods to help the people. One day, Sage Agastya went to a lake for a bath. Since he could not leave Kaveri alone in the ashram, he turned her into water and put her in his kamandala, the Kaveri transformed in to a riverutensil for carrying holy water. As he entered the lake, he left the kamandala on the bank. Meanwhile, Ganesha took the form of a crow and overturned the kamadala. The water was released and Kaveri became a river. She helped the suffering people by providing them with water.

Jambu
Once Parvati mocked Shiva's penance for betterment of the world. Shiva wanted to condemn her act and directed her to go to the earth from Kailasam (Shiva's abode) to do penance. Parvathi in the form of Akilandeswari as per Shiva's wish found Jambu forest (Thiruvanaikoil) to conduct her penance. She made a lingam out of water of river Cauvery
